ECD SYSTEM > INITIALIZATION

for Preparation Click here

HINT:
  1. After replacing fuel injector(s), perform both the "Injector Compensation" and the "Pilot Quantity Learning Values Reset" functions using the intelligent tester. If fuel injector(s) and the ECM are replaced at the same time, perform the same initializations/registrations as when replacing the ECM.
  2. After replacing the air fuel ratio sensor, perform the "A/F Sensor Compensation Reset" function using the intelligent tester. If the air fuel ratio sensor and the ECM are replaced at the same time, perform the same initializations/registrations as when replacing the ECM.
  3. After replacing the DPF catalytic converter, perform the "DPF Deterioration Record Clear" function using the intelligent tester. If the DPF catalytic converter and the ECM are replaced at the same time, perform the same initializations/registrations as when replacing the ECM.
  4. After replacing the engine assembly, perform both the "Injector Compensation" and the "Pilot Quantity Learning Values Reset" functions using the intelligent tester. If the engine assembly and the ECM are replaced at the same time, perform the same initializations/registrations as when replacing the ECM.
  5. When the diesel throttle body assembly, EGR valve assembly or turbocharger sub-assembly is replaced, perform initialization in action of the turning ignition switch from ON to OFF and wait for 30 seconds or more.
  6. The "DPF Deterioration Record Clear" function appears on the intelligent tester display only for vehicles with the DPF system.

Pilot Quantity Learning Values Reset (When replace all injectors)

HINT:
When any injectors and/or the engine assembly are replaced, the pilot quantity learning values stored in the ECM must be reset.

  1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

  2. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the tester on.

  3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Utility / Pilot Quantity Learning Values Reset.

  4. A202023
  5. Press "Next".

    HINT:
Confirm that the ignition switch is ON and the engine is stopped.

  6. A202024
  7. Select "All Injectors" and press "NEXT".

  8. A202025
  9. Press "EXIT".

Pilot Quantity Learning Values Reset (When replacing specific injector(s))

  6. A202026
  7. Select "Specific Injector(s)" and press "NEXT".

  8. A202027
  9. Select the cylinder(s) where injector(s) was replaced, and press "NEXT".

  10. A202025
  11. Press "EXIT".

DPF Deterioration Record Clear

HINT:
  1. This value is the ash accumulation volume in the DPF catalytic converter calculated by the ECM. If the ash accumulation volume in the DPF catalytic converter increases, the difference in pressure in front of and behind the DPF catalytic converter will increase. The difference in pressure in front of and behind the DPF catalytic converter is offset depending on the volume of accumulated ash.
  2. When a DPF catalyst is replaced, the DPF deterioration record stored in the ECM must be cleared.

  1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

  2. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the tester on.

  3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Utility / DPF Deterioration Record Clear.

  4. A202028
  5. Press "Next".

    HINT:
Confirm that the ignition switch is ON and the engine is stopped.

  6. A202029
  7. Press "Next".

A/F Sensor Compensation Reset

HINT:
When an air fuel ratio sensor is replaced, the A/F sensor compensation learning value stored in the ECM must be reset.

  1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

  2. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the tester on.

  3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Utility / A/F Sensor Compensation Reset.

  4. A202030
  5. Press "Next".

    HINT:
Confirm that the ignition switch is ON and the engine is stopped.

  6. A202031
  7. Press "EXIT".
